RTC Garuda Plus buses for Shirdi Hyderabad, Nov 12 (INN): To offer more comfortable journey to Shirdi commuters, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has decided to introduce Garuda Plus (multi-axle) buses from Sunday onwards.
According to Rangareddy Depot regional manager Vinod that the Garuda Plus bus to Shirdi would leave Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station at 7 pm and reach Shirdi next day morning at around 9 am.
The fare for adult is Rs 945 and for children Rs 713. He called upon the people to use the reservation facility available at all RTC online counters in the city.
Vinod said that the Garuda Plus services have been introduced as a part of modernization and improvisation drive launched by the RTC. He said that the Garuda Plus buses have more seating capacity than the conventional Garuda air-conditioned buses.
While Garuda accommodates 40 passengers, Garuda Plus buses have 50 seats and are four feet longer than the regular Garuda buses.
It may be mentioned that the APSRTC, in its recently held meeting, has decided to induct 8,000 new buses in the next two years. While 4,000 new buses would be procured during this fiscal, remaining 4,000 buses would be purchased during the next financial year.
They include 24 Garuda Plus buses with each costing Rs 90 lakh. So far, the RTC has launched two Garuda Plus buses.
However, the corporation is hoping to buy 21 ultra-luxury buses each from Volvo and Mercedes Benz by the end of current financial year.
