Hopes dashed, PVP stays out from poll fray HYDERABAD: With TDP and BJP sorting out their differences, film producer and industrialist Potluri Vara Prasad is a disappointed man now.
The eager beaver, who had made all-out attempts to contest the ensuing general polls either on Jana Sena Party ticket or as an independent, had to suppress his desire to enter the electoral fray for now.
According to sources, as the BJP and the TDP patched up, the Jana Sena Party founder and film actor Pawan Kalyan has asked Vara Prasad not to contest elections this time as it would throw a spanner into the winning chances of the TDP candidate from Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat, from which the film producer wanted to contest.
It is learnt that when Prasad met Pawan Kalyan here on Friday, the Jana Sena boss discouraged him from filing his nomination as an independent for Vijayawada LS seat.
Later in the evening, when Prasad had called on BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu, Naidu also asked the film producer not to create further trouble to the BJP-TDP alliance in Seemandhra by trying to stay in the fray from Vijayawada LS seat. Against this backdrop, Vara Prasad has decided not to contest the ensuing polls.
Later, the film producer disclosed that he had dropped his plans to file his nomination from Vijayawada LS seat as this would affect the winning chances of the TDP-BJP candidate from the segment.
'I have decided to stay away from the elections as I don't want to be a spoilsport for the TDP-BJP candidate. I wish the TDP-BJP combine best of luck in the polls,' he said.
