Modi, Pawan seeks votes to restore Telugu pride Nizamabad, April 22 (INN): Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday appealed to the people of Telangana to vote for BJP-TDP combine to restore Telugu pride.
Addressing a public meeting at Nizamabad on Tuesday, Modi accused the Congress of hurting the sentiments of Telugu people on several occasions. He recalled that former Chief Minister T Anjaiah was allegedly insulted by Rajiv Gandhi in full public view.
Similarly, he said the Congress party complete ignored former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. He said no national scheme was named after PV although he served as the Congress Prime Minister for a full-term.
Modi described the elections as extremely crucial for the people of Telangana. 'You had witnessed several elections in the past. These elections play a key role in the development of Telangana," he said. 'Telangana was realised on the sacrifice of many people. No one gave Telangana,' he added.
Jana Sena Party president and cine-star Pawan Kalyan, who began his speech by saying Jai Telangana, asked people to take right decision in this election. He also alleged that Congress party has always insulted the Telugus and recalled that Narasimha Rao was not given land in New Delhi for the final rites. He concluded his speech by shouting the slogan "Congress Hatao".
Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy and other leaders also addressed the meeting.
