Telangana state motherless, says Modi
HYDERABAD:: BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday vowed to keep the Telugu spirit alive even though the state has been split and promised to nurse and nurture the two newborns ' Telangana and Seemandhra.
Sharing the dais with TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena founder and actor Pawan Kalyan here, Modi reiterated that the Congress killed the 'mother' while creating the new states. 'I promise you, I will take care of the reconstruction of the two states.
For this to happen and also to ensure all-round development of the nation, please elect a strong government at the Centre. Let all MP seats in Andhra and Telangana go to the NDA,' Modi told the voters in Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar and Hyderabad.
During his whirlwind tour of Telangana, the Gujarat Chief Minister shared the stage with Naidu in Mahbubnagar.
Interestingly, when Modi visited Hyderabad in August last, he had praised the late NTR, indicating his interest in roping the TDP back into the NDA.
Modi targeted the Congress, stating that the 'Maa-beta sarkar' had ruined the economy and held it responsible for rampant corruption, unemployment and other ills plaguing the country.
Seeking to strike a chord with the people, both in Telangana and Seemandhra, and appealing to the 'self-respect' of Telugus, he recalled how the Congress had insulted Telugu leaders and referred to the humiliation suffered by the then Chief Minister Tanguturi Anjaiah at the hands of Rajiv Gandhi in the 1980s.
