Rayalaseema JAC warns stir over capital Hyderabad: Having announced the modalities to implement the loan waiver scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government is now focusing its attention on deciding the location of the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.
However, this issue could become another bone of contention between the Rayalaseema and Andhra regions as Seema protagonists claim that they would launch an agitation if the capital city was located between Vijayawada and Guntur.
Noted litterateur Kethu Viswanatha Reddy warned if Naidu follows the footsteps of his predecessors in the changed scenario, 'Separate Rayalaseema movement' would be the only option. He said this demand was being supported even by the student and teachers organisations.
The student JAC of Kurnool Rajadhani Sadhan Samiti (KRSS) in Kurnool staged a dharna near collectorate on Wednesday to register their protest against the new capital committee appointed by the State government and its attempts to hijack the capital to Krishna, Guntur districts.
The advocates led by Justice Lakshman Reddy (retd) also held a public meeting in the Kadapa district to highlight the injustice being meted out to the region. Bandi Narayanaswamy, an author, said the government should consider some region in Prakasam district nearer to Rayalaseema as the location of the capital.
