Airport-level security at all Metro Rail stations Hyderabad, July 23 (INN): The Hyderabad Metrol Rail Limited (HMRL) has assured that airport level security arrangements would be provided at all Metro Stations.
'Fool-proof security will be in place which includes access controlled passenger entry with baggage scanning, CCTV cameras and other surveillance,' HMR MD NVS Reddy said during a meeting on Security Plan for the Hyderabad Metro Rail project on Wednesday with Hyderabad Commissioner M Mahender Reddy and other top Police officials, Security Experts, L&T Officials etc at the office of the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad.
NVS Reddy said that passenger security would be the top most priority of HMR and it will be ensured through access control and installation of CCTVs at all stations, sensors and alarms for monitoring of unmanned areas, checking and frisking of passengers at concourse gates, installation of intrusion detection systems, on-board surveillance through video recording in trains, anti-sabotage checking etc.
The Security arrangements for Metro Rail Stations, Parking and Circulation areas, viaduct and track, trains, depot areas, vital installations and machinery, Operations Control Centre (OCC) etc., were discussed at the meeting. Security arrangements already in place at different Metro Rail systems like Delhi, Bengaluru etc., were also discussed.
The CCTV system will cover areas like platforms, concourse, ticketing, parking, skywalks, viaduct, entry/exits to stations, vicinity areas, inside and outside saloon of the trains.
The security arrangements are being finalised in consultation with the Hyderabad Police with guidance from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Various options were discussed and the final requirements will be worked out soon. Retired Senior IPS Officer and counter terrorism expert, KC Reddy presented a report in this regard.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Law&Order) Anjani Kumar, Addl. Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jitender, Addl. Commissioner of Police (Crimes & SIT) Sandeep Shandilya, Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, Project Director, L&TMRHL MP Naidu, Head-Railway Systems Anil Kumar Saini and other Senior Government officials attended the meeting.
