Cement prices down by Rs 25 per bag HYDERABAD: In a major relief to builders in Telangana, the cement manufacturers from Telangana have agreed to reduce the price of cement from Thursday. Telangana chief secretary Rajiv Sharma held a meeting with cement makers at the Secretariat here on Wednesday.
After prolonged discussions and persuasion by the officials, the cement manufacturers have agreed to reduce the price by Rs 20- 25 per bag. At present the price per bag is between Rs 305 and 310 in the market. If the cement companies reduced the price by Rs 25, the bag will be available anywhere from Rs 280 to Rs 285.
'The cement prices will be lesser by Rs 25. The new rates will be applicable from Thursday,' said a cement manufacturer S Sambasiva Rao after the meeting with the chief secretary. The cement makers told the chief secretary that the recent hike in the prices was due to escalation in the cost of inputs and transportation.
They also informed the officials that the Central government's thrust on infrastructure, the demand for cement was about to rise further. Later, builders under the leadership of Builders JAC president C Sekhar Reddy called on chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
