What's Criteria for Appointing Sania?, asks BJP HYDERABAD: A day after sparking a national debate on the issue of sports icon Sania Mirza being made brand ambassador of Telangana state and terming her as 'daughter-in-law' of Pakistan and questioning her credentials for the honour by Telangana BJP floor leader K Laxman, his deputy NVSS Prabhakar had applied under RTI Act on the criteria adopted by the TRS government for her appointment.
Speaking to reporters here, Prabhakar questioned the decision of the Telangana government to appoint Sania as the brand ambassador of the state. 'On what basis has she been appointed brand ambassador of the state?. How will she be useful in promoting the state?' he asked.
He said that he had applied under RTI Act on the criteria adopted by the TRS government to appoint Sania Mirza for the job. ''Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should tell the people of the state why his government had appointed Sania as brand ambassador of the state. Let him justify his act,'' he remarked.
Coming down heavily on the functioning of the Telangana government, the BJP deputy floor leader demanded that the state government immediately convene the budget session to ensure smooth functioning of the administration.
Criticising the government for politicising Eamcet counselling issue, the senior BJP leader said that due the adamant attitude of the state government the future of lakhs of students is at stake.
Prabhakar said that the pensioners were not getting pension for the last three months and lakhs of genuine ration card holders were being harassed over the issue of fake ration cards. More clarification was needed on fee reimbursement and loan waiver, he said.
