Nagender faces flak for Congress failure Hyderabad, July 27 (INN): Former minister and Greater Hyderabad Congress president Danam Nagender faced severe criticism for the party's dismal performance in the city during the recent Assembly elections.
Participating in the review meeting held by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Ponnala Lakshmaiah at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, the Congress leaders accused Nagender, another former minister M Mukesh Goud and former Secunderabad MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav of damaging the party in the city while in power. They alleged that the Congress workers of Hyderabad were never given any importance by the trio. They said that the cadre felt ignored, discouraged and humiliated by the senior leaders on several occasions.
The review meeting was attended by Danam, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP MA Khan, MLCs Mohammed Ali Shabbir and MS Prabhakar, Deputy Mayor D Rajkumar, former Mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy, former MLA Jaya Sudha and Dr P Vinay Kumar. They discussed and reviewed the reasons responsible for party's poor performance in the elections.
A few leaders also accused Nagender and Shabbir Ali of showing favouritism in giving nominated post. They alleged that one important post was sold to an individual by taking bribe of nearly Rs 70 lakh.
Speaking to media persons later, TPCC General Secretary MM Baig said that it has been decided to encourage youth in the party by allocating at least 75 per cent tickets to youth in future elections. TPCC Minority Department Chairman Sirajuddin said that a majority of leaders were in favour of removal of Nagender from the post of Greater Hyderabad President.
A few important leaders including Rajyasabha MP V Hanumantha Rao, Marri Shashidhar Reddy and M Mukesh Goud did not attend the meeting.
