Araku MP plans dumping Jagan VISAKHAPATNAM: Arauku MP Kothapalli Geetha sparked off speculations over her quitting YSR Congress and joining Telugu Desam Party when she met panchayat raj minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu at the Circuit House in the city Sunday. While the MP evaded the media after the meeting and left in a hurry, the minister said that she met him only to discuss issues pertaining to her constituency and 'the meeting had no political importance'.
Geetha, who is the only YSRC MP from north Coastal Andhra region, had been keeping herself away from the party activities for some time now.
She was nowhere to be seen during the recent visit of YSRC president and opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts.
Soon after, there were speculations that she will join the TDP. It is learnt that Geetha was upset with her treatment in the party despite winning the Araku MP seat, amidst the TDP wave where all YSRC MP candidates including party honorary president YS Vijayalakshmi lost to their TDP rivals.
Amidst these speculations, Geetha called on panchayat raj minister Ayyanna Patrudu at the Circuit House this afternoon, ahead of minister Ayyanna Patrudu and Ganta Srinivasa Rao's meet to review the arrangements for the proposed visit of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to Visakhapatnam district on July 30 and 31.
It is learnt that Geetha had recently written a letter to Chandrabbu seeking his appointment and her meeting with Patrudu before the CM's visit has set the rumour mills whirring in the city over her shifting loyalties during Naidu's visit.
