KCR to attend IIM alumni meet in Singapore HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will attend 'Impact 2014', a two-day convention organised by the alumni of Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) at Rafels City Convention Centre in Singapore on August 22 and 23.
The convention will also be attended by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, president SR Nathan, Deputy PM Dharman Shanmuga Rathnam and Minister S Eswaran.
KCR is the first Chief Minister to be invited by the alumni of IIMs and he will deliver a talk sharing his vision for the new state of Telangana, particularly pertaining to Industrial policy and investment opportunities. He was also requested by the organising committee of the convention to explain, what role he expects the alumni of IIMs to play in industrial development of the new state.
In the letter, they had informed the CM, that Singapore Economic Development Board is also keen to know what will be the new industrial policy of Telangana state government will be and a team of CEOs of different industries are ready to have discussions with the CM during his visit.
KCR had decided to accept the invitation as it provides a perfect opportunity to interact not only with alumni of IIMs from across the globe, but also with who is who in the corporate world, government officials of Singapore and other countries.
It is an opportunity to explore various investment opportunities in Singapore and other Asian countries, new trends, business ideas, so as to adopt them in Telangana.
The Chief Minister, who is busy formulating his new industrial policy, had for long been saying that he would follow the Singapore Industrial Policy and now it provides him with an ample opportunity to study the model in detail from close quarters.
He decided to take CMO officials, industries department officials with him, who will stay couple of days there and study the Singapore industrial development model.
The convention is being viewed as a perfect platform to give a wider publicity to the new industrial policy of Telangana government, which Chief Minister says will be more transparent, corruption-free.
