UK to tap renewable energy potential in AP Hyderabad, Aug 27 (INN): A delegation led by UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Rt Hon. Edward Davey met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the UK Secretary of State exchanged his ideas with the Chief Minister on the potential for investments in renewable energy sector in Andhra Pradesh.
Expressing interest in clean and green energy sources, Davey said UK is interested in investing in solar and wind power projects in the state. He added that the UK government would also consider investments in AP's gas grid.
This apart, the UK Secretary of State expressed happiness over Shell's investment in the LNG terminal. Davey added that Andhra Pradesh's coastline would be it greatest advantage and that UK would be keen in supporting the state in establishing ports and infrastructure.
Principal Secretary to Secretary of State Allison Campbell, Chancellor Energy and Climate Change Phil Maker, British Deputy High Commissioner to India Andrew McCallister and other delegates were present at the meeting.
