Telangana to waive loans in 3 districts initially HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has started farm loan waiver and is likely to finalise the village-wise lists of beneficiaries by the weekend. The official committee on farm loan waiver, which met at the Secretariat here on Monday, decided to strictly go by the norms issued by the RBI for loan waiver.
Accordingly, the loan waiver would start initially in the three districts approved by the RBI--Medak, Adilabad and Rangareddy. The village-wise lists would be prepared for these three districts. The official committee discussed the progress of preparing the lists. However, bankers sought four more days to finalise lists branch-wise.
The Committee suggested to the government not to consider for waiver loans taken against gold in urban areas. However, the committee wanted the government to consider gold loans in rural areas, in addition to the crop loan of `1 lakh.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had to take a final call on this and also on the waiver of crop loans in six other districts where the RBI did not approve rescheduling.
