Power generation picks up in Telangana Hyderabad: The Telangana State, which was reeling under severe power shortage, has found some solace on Tuesday with the supply of power exceeded the demand and no power cuts were imposed in the state due to the increased generation from the hydel power stations.
Telangana Genco Chairman and Managing Director Prabhakar Rao said the generation of power from all the sources in the state has reached 140 mu and the demand was only 120 mu.
It has become possible as the thermal power stations under the Genco and in the Central sector produced about 75 mu and the hydel stations produced about 65 mu. Due to heavy inflows, the hydel stations at Nagarjuna Sagar, Srisailam and Jurala are producing power to their full capacity.
