Eamcet counselling: 10 colleges find no takers HYDERABAD : After the conclusion of first phase of Eamcet counselling, 10 engineering colleges were left with zero admissions. Nine of them are from Andhra Pradesh while the remaining one is from Telangana, according to the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).
After releasing the final list of admissions at the end of first phase of counselling, APSCHE chairman Prof Venugopal Reddy said that only 103 colleges from both states have recorded 100 percent admissions, of which, 65 colleges are from Telangana and 38 from AP.
Even after 174 colleges from Telangana were barred from the counselling process, as many as 34 colleges from the state had admission of less than five students. There are 21 such colleges in Andhra Pradesh as well. So far there is no announcement about the schedule of second phase of counselling.
In the meantime, several issues have to be resolved such as fee reimbursement which might delay the announcement of second phase of counselling as the council wants to take legal opinion in case of any conflict between the governments. But, admissions under management quota are underway.
'The Council is considering the option of consulting the Supreme Court if need be,' Reddy said. He said he has no information whether the 174 colleges will be included for second phase of counselling, and any further decisions will be taken only after both the governments and legal bodies approve them.
