GHMC plans 100 FoBs across city roads HYDERABAD: At the request of Army authorities, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation proposes to construct a foot overbride (FoB) near Tippu Khan bridge near Langar Houz soon.
Mayor M Majid Hussain, along with commissioner Somesh Kumar, Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi, Army 3 TRG & MT Regiment officials inspected the Tippu Khan bridge and the Artillery Centre, Golconda on Friday.
Army officials pointed out to the GHMC officials that vehicular traffic on the road was heavy and it was becoming increasingly difficult for pedestrians to cross the road during peak hours.
Agreeing to the request for an FOB at the Tippu Khan bridge, the mayor wanted more FOBs built in different parts of the twin cities where traffic congestion is more.
Somesh Kumar said the GHMC planned to build 100 new FoBs, identified 70 places and will identify the remaining 30 places for their construction.
Keeping in view the difficulties of the elderly, women, children and physically-challenged, the GHMC would provide lifts at the FOBs, he said, adding that the FoBs would be made safe to use.
