67% polling in Medak LS, 69% in Nandigama by-polls Hyderabad, Sept 13 (INN): Over 67 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the by-elections for Medak Lok Sabha constituency held on Saturday.
Similarly, 69.49% polling was recorded in Nandigama Assembly segment of Krishna district.
Narsapur Assembly segment of Medak Lok Sabha constituency registered the highest 77% polling, followed by 68% in Dubbak, 67% in Gajwel, 66% in Siddipet, 64% in Sangareddy, 63% in Medak and 52% in Patencheru Assembly segment.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao were among those who exercised their franchise in Medak by-elections.
Barring minor incidents, the polling was peaceful in both Medak Lok Sabha and Narsapur Assembly segments. Technical snags in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) delayed the voting process at few places.
However, the faulty EVMs were immediately replaced by the Election Commission officials. Elaborate security arrangements were made for the by-polls, especially in the Medak Lok Sabha constituency. The entire election process was monitored by the senior officials from Hyderabad through webcasting.
Fourteen candidates are in fray in Medak by-polls which witnessed an intense triangular contest between TRS, Congress and BJP. Similarly, four candidates are in fray in Nandigama, a SC reserved seat, of Andhra Pradesh.
