Hero bike plant, Ultra-mega Solar Parks
HYDERABAD: Two-wheeler major, Hero Motors Limited, is all set to set up a manufacturing plant in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs 2,200 crore.
The plant, to be the company's fifth in India and first in the south, is expected to provide direct employment to 6,000 people and indirect employment to 3,000. The state cabinet, which met here under the presidentship of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, decided to give relevant permissions to the company.
Sources say the company has come forward to set up a plant in Sri City Special Economic Zone in Chittoor district. It is likely to sign an MoU with Sri City promoters in the presence of Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday.
Briefing mediapersons on the other decisions taken by the cabinet, IT minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and municipal administration minister P Narayana said the Centre had given approval for setting up of ultra-mega solar parks with an installed capacity of 2,500 MW in the districts of Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa.
The cabinet sanctioned 5,500 acres of land for the Anantapur plant, 5,000 acres for the Kurnool and 3,000 acres for the Kadapa plant. All the plants will be set up in collaboration with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
Reddy said the state government would sign an MoU with the Centre on implementation of the central programme, 'Power for All', on Tuesday in the presence of Union minister of state for power Piyush Goyal and Chandrababu Naidu here on Tuesday.
The Cabinet decided to replace Rajiv Aarogya Sri with NTR Aarogya Seva and to cover 100 more diseases for treatment under the health scheme for the poor.
