YV Reddy assures to consider TS proposals Hyderabad, Sept 19 (INN): Dr. Y. V. Reddy, Chairman of the 14th Finance Commission, assured the Telangana Government that the Commission would discuss in detail the issues raised in Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and presentations made by different departmental secretaries to the commission on Friday.
The Chairman said that the Commission would take forward these proposals and discuss them on next Monday itself. He also said that the package that would ultimately be given to the state of Telangana should be desirable, feasible and realistic in the Indian context and the context of State.
Dr. Reddy responded to the Chief Minister's speech and the presentations made by the different secretaries to the Government, to the 14th Finance Commission this morning, in a meeting held at Hotel Grand Kakatiya.
He placed on record his deep appreciation about the competence, integrity and commitment of Telangana Government, the Chief Minister and officers. The Chairman remarked, that, the commission will do its best and will be very fair to Telangana and will consider positively all the unique challenges faced by the State.
The Chairman mentioned, that, the meeting with Chief Minister and officers helped him and other members of the commission in sensitising them. Chairman Dr. Y. V. Reddy made a specific mention to 'Our Village our Plan', 'Telangana Water Grid', 'Tanks in Telangana', 'Haritha Haram', 'Hyderabad Capital Reforms', 'Power Deficiency' etc.,
The Chairman particularly made a mention to the Chief Minister's speech where the latter highlighted all major challenges in the context of fulfilling aspirations of the people, reinventing and reorienting the State and resource mobilization for the State.
He also made a mention about Chief Minister's observations in his speech on various issues and SC, STs and Backward Classes, as well as the various initiatives taken by the State Government. He outlined about the importance of Intensive Household survey. Dr Reddy said, that, the Chief Minister made a strong argument in favour of many requirements of the State, need for efficiency in resource mobilisation and frequent references to Telangana State Development.
Prof. Abhijit Sen, Dr. M. Govind Rao, Sushma Nath, Sudeep Monde and AM Jha members of the Finance Commission also responded to the presentations and speech of the Chief Minister.
They said that water is going to be a big challenge in future for Telangana State. They complimented the Intensive and aspirational presentations made in the meeting. Some of them said the presentations are mainly development based.
Sushma Nath complimented that, Chief Minister made an excellent Key Note Address where in a genuine concern about the resources to the state was shown.
She said that the commission is fully conscious of state's requirement and resources. Sudeep Monde appreciated the financial projections and enquired about any unresolved issues between the two states that may have effect on the finances. He said he really enjoyed the presentation on the Water Tanks and Water Grid.
