Govt firm on waiving off crop loans: Pocharam Hyderabad, Sept 20 (INN): Agriculture Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Saturday claimed that the State Government was yet to get complete data from banks to implement the loan waiver schemes for farmers.
Speaking to media persons after attending the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting here, Pocharam said that the government was firm on waiving off farm loans and there was no question of going back on the promise.
However, he said that the promise could not be implemented due to lack of required data. He also informed an inquiry has been ordered against those who procured loans using fake pass books.
He said that such fake farmers would be excluded from the loan waiver scheme. Further, the benefit would not be extended to those who did not cultivate the fields after taking loans from the banks, he said.
The Minister also informed that steps were being taken to extend Khariff loans to the farmers. The process would begin by the end of this month, he said.
