Metro Rail project very much on track HYDERABAD: The Telangana government is fully supporting the Hyderabad Metro Rail project and there are no serious issues involved with the project, said Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sarma during his meeting with Central government officials in Delhi on Monday.
Rajiv Sarma and Telangana government advisor BV Paparao called on Union Cabinet Secretary Ajit Kumar Sen and principal secretary to Prime Minister Nrupendra Misra.
Following the select media leak of the L&T letter, which raised doubts about the progress of the prestigious HMR project, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed Rajiv Sharma and Paparao to go to Delhi. The Centre has a share in the HMR.
According to sources, Rajiv Sarma briefed the Union government officials that Telangana was fully supporting the project and there were no serious issues pending with the Telangana government in implementation of the project.
Rajiv Sarma made it clear that HMR was being implemented faster than any other project in the country by L&T. All the fiscal and financial milestones of implementation of HMR project were on target, Rajiv Sarma said.
Paparao apprised the Cabinet secretary and principal secretary that the recent letter of L&T on Metro Rail project and its leakage to some select media was the handiwork of Andhra lobby supported by their media to tarnish the brand image of Hyderabad.
The Central government officials assured full cooperation in implementation of the HMR. HMR was the first PPP Metro rail project in the country and thus the Centre was keen on its successful implementation. The first phase of HMR, around 8 km, is scheduled to be completed by Ugadi 2015 between Nagole and Mettuguda.
