Certificates of Telangana varsities to go online Hyderabad, Sept 30 (INN): Education Minister Jagadeshwar Reddy on Tuesday directed all universities of Telangana to digitise the records of all certificates issued by them in the last 30 years to facilitate their online verification.
Speaking to media persons after holding a review meeting with Registrar and Vice-Chancellors of Universities of Telangana and Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy, the minister informed that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was in receipt of complaints from the IT sector on the use of fake degrees by the job seekers.
In order to weed out fake degrees, the government has decided to digitise all the records for the last 30 years on immediate basis. Instead of GAD certification, all the companies would be able to verify the certificates online itself. He said that the use of fake certificates would affect the brand image of Telangana and therefore, steps are being taken to end this menace on permanent basis.
The minister also directed the Police Commissioner to register criminal cases against those who prepare, sell and use the fake certificates.
Jagadeshwar Reddy also advised the Teachers' Unions to resolve their differences as the government was unable to take a concrete decision on various issues due to split of opinions among various unions.
