KCR seeks political reservation for women, OBCs Hyderabad, Oct 1 (INN): Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to take appropriate measures to provide political reservation for women and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
KCR asked the Centre to take required steps to increase the number of seats in the Parliament and State Legislatures by 33 per cent and reserve the same to the women at the earliest.
Similarly, he asked the Centre to provide 33 per cent reservation for OBCs, both in Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies of all the States in the Indian Union, so as to improve the political participation of the OBCs in the decision making process in the Indian democratic set up.
The Chief Minister also demanded that the Centre create an Independent Ministry for the welfare and development of the Other Backward Classes (OBC)at National level at the earliest.
KCR, in his letter, mentioned that the State of Telangana came into existence on 2nd June 2014 and the newly created Telangana State legislative Assembly and Legislative Council passed three resolutions with reference to the above three recommendations. He said all the three resolutions were unanimously passed in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.
