'Achche Din' only for BJP's financiers' Hyderabad, Oct 19 (INN): The Telangana Congress leaders have accused the BJP-led NDA Government of making policies only to benefit some corporates who funded the Bharatiya Janata Party's last election campaign.
Speaking on the occasion of 24th anniversary of Sadbhavana Yatra at Charminar here on Sunday, TPCC Vice-President Mohammed Ali Shabbir condemned the recent decisions taken by the Centre. Referring to the hike in natural gas tariff by 46 percent, he said this would benefit corporates like Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries.
Similarly, the labour reforms would benefit only a few large corporate houses while the interests of poor workforce would get hurt. He also alleged that the Centre was planning to privatise railways to benefit a few companies by taking investments from Japan.
"The previous Congress Government did not increase the natural gas price and instead, it intervened to ensure that government enjoys its control over gas in KG Basin," he said adding that the hike would have a direct impact on the prices of CNG, fertilisers and power.
Shabbir Ali alleged that 'Ache Din' (good days) have begun only for the companies who funded the BJP's election campaign. All other promises that Prime Minister Narendra Modi made with the people remained a mirage. He accused Modi of misleading the common people through fake promises. He said a propaganda campaign was carried out against the Congress government by calling it as 'corrupt'.
He also promised to bring back black money in the country within 100 days. However, now Modi himself has admitted that the return of black money would be a time consuming process and he would not even reveal the names of those hoarding black money abroad.
He said Modi's present stand was not different from the version given by Congress party before elections. "Instead of admitting it as a fact, he misled the people to believe that Congress was lying. Therefore, Narendra Modi should apologise with the people for making a false and misleading promise," he demanded.
Recalling the services of Rajiv Gandhi, he said that the former Prime Minister launched Sadbhavana Yatra from Charminar in 1990 to prevent the country from the threat of communalism. With BJP in power at the Centre, the circumstances today are quite similar to those that existed in 1990. Therefore, he enthralled the Congress cadres to work actively to promote Rajiv Gandhi's message of peace and communal harmony.
Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy, TPCC General Secretary N Niranjan, former minister Danam Nagender, former MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav and other senior leaders also spoke.
