Telangana forms its own Inter Board HYDERABAD: Telangana now has its own Intermediate Board with the State government issuing a GO on Monday adapting the existing Andhra Pradesh Intermediate Education Act 1971 (Act 2 of 1971) to the State.
The order says that the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education has been set up as per the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, which allows the two governments to make such adaptations and modifications of any law made before June 2, 2014, whether by way of repeal or amendment as may be necessary or expedient, for the purpose of facilitating the application of such law in the the State in two years time from the date of appointment.
According to sources, the Telangana government felt that it became inevitable for it to set up a separate Board of Intermediate for Telangana, as there was no cooperation from Andhra Pradesh in discharging the tasks of BIE, which are primarily to ensure timely conduct of the examinations.
'The preparations for the conduct of annual examinations generally commence in August itself. But even after two months, no steps were taken in that direction,' sources said. Further, the two states had differences of opinion over almost every issue pertaining to intermediate examinations.
'Given the situation, it was good that the new Board had been formed. Now, students in Telangana will get the certificate from the new board,' a senior official of the Intermediate Education board said.
Sources said though the GO was issued for the creation of a new BIE for Telangana on Monday, already administrative staff has been divided and post-June 2, two separate bank accounts are being maintained by Andhra and Telangana wings.
