Venkaiah Naidu to adopt cyclone-hit village Visakhapatnam, Oct 23 (INN): Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu has decided to adopt Chepaluppada village of Visakhapatnam district, which has been ravaged due to cyclone Hudhud.
Speaking to media persons here, Venkaiah Naidu said he and his family members will adopt the village and would spent money for its reconstruction.
He also announced Rs 25 lakh assistance to the village from his MPLAD funds. He said he would also follow-up with the Centre to get maximum financial assistance for the cyclone-hit areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh which faced the fury of cyclone Hudhud on October 12.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already announced an interim assistance of Rs 1,000 crore after visiting the cyclone-hit areas. Venkaiah Naidu said that the Centre would announce a rehabilitation package after the completion of assessment of losses.
