New ration cards by December end: Etela Hyderabad, Nov 1 (INN): Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Etela Rajender on Saturday announced that the new ration cards would be issued by December end.
He disclosed this after chairing the meeting of Cabinet Sub-Committee on Ration Cards (Food Security Cards) at the State Secretariat on Saturday. Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna were also present. Etela informed that the Cabinet Sub-Committee had submitted its report to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and he has accepted all the recommendations made by the committee.
Etela informed that the rice quota has been increased from four kg per person to six kgs. Further, the clause of exempting children enjoying Mid-day meal scheme has been removed.
The income limit for white ration cards has been increased from Rs 60,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh in rural areas and from Rs 75,000 to Rs 2 lakh in urban areas. Similarly, those will 3.5 acres of cultivable land or 7.5 acres of barren lands would be eligible to get white ration cards.
The minister said that the ration dealers would get 20 per cent commission. He warned the ration dealers of stern action against hoarding and black marketing. Similarly, serious action will be taken against bogus ration card holders, he said.
