MIM stages walkout from Assembly Hyderabad, Nov 24 (INN): MIM MLAs staged a walkout from the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Monday for being denied an opportunity to speak on the subject of unemployment which was debated in the House under Rule 344.
MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi lodged a strong protest for not being allowed to speak on the subject. However, Assembly Speaker S Madhusudan Chary contended that the MIM MLAs were not signatories to the notice given under Rule 344 and therefore, they were not allowed to speak. In response, Akbaruddin Owaisi said several MLAs, who were not signatories, were allowed to speak during the debate on energy crisis.
Intervening on the issue, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao said that a decision was taken by the Business Advisory Committee that under Rule 344, only signatories would be allowed to speak.
Stating that no such decision was taken during the BAC meeting, Akbaruddin Owaisi offered to quit from his posts if proved wrong. Later, the MIM MLAs staged a walkout from the House in protest.
