Chiru asked to vacate minister's quarter in Delhi New Delhi, November 27: The Telugu matinee idol-turned-Congress leader was asked to vacate his ministerial bungalow immediately and shift to an ordinary MP quarters to be allotted by the Rajya Sabha Committee.
According to sources, Chiranjeevi approached Venkaiah Naidu and put forth a request that he be allowed to continue in the ministerial bungalow as he had spent more than Rs 3 crore on its renovation.
However, Venkaiah expressed his helplessness in this regard. After waiting till last week, the department officials pasted a notice on Chiranjeevi's residence recently asking him to vacate without any delay. Sources said he has already started shifting his belongings to the MP quarters.
However, exception was given to Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP from Nizamabad Kalwakuntla Kavitha. Apparently, Venkaiah permitted her to continue in the ministerial bungalow allotted to his father K Chandrasekhara Rao, now Chief Minister of Telangana, during tenure in the UPA cabinet.
The reason being cited for allowing Kavitha, a first MP, to continue in the ministerial bungalow is that it is also being used as the TRS party office in the national capital. After six months of continuous effort, the government has succeeded in allotting accommodation to all 543 LS MPs.
