KCR promises all-party meet on Metro re-alignment Hyderabad, Nov 27 (INN): Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has promised to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the issue of re-alignment of Hyderabad Metro Rail.
The Chief Minister made this announcement following strong protest by the BJP in the State Legislative Assembly which led to the brief adjournment of the House twice.
As soon as the House met at 10 AM on Thursday, the BJP MLAs, led by their floor leader Dr K Lakshman, gave an adjournment motion notice seeking debate on Metro Rail project. They were supported by the TDP legislators. The BJP MLAs stood at their seats and raised slogans demanding discussion on the issue.
The BJP legislators did not allow Speaker S Madhusudan Chary to start Question Hour and run other business as per the agenda. Meanwhile, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao said that the State Government was ready discussion, but asked the BJP MLAs to give notice in another form.
While the BJP legislators were adamant on discussion on Metro Rail, the TRS members raised slogans demanding Question Hour. Following furore in the House, the Speaker adjourned the House for 10 minutes.
Similar scenes were witnessed when the House met again at about 10.33 AM. Harish Rao alleged that the TDP and BJP MLAs were creating ruckus in the House so as to avoid discussion on a question related to IMG Bharata listed in the Question Hour. Within two minutes, the Speaker again adjourned the House for 10 minutes.
The House reassembled against at about 11.08 AM. With the BJP members continuing their protest, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao intervened and promised to convene an all-party meeting on the issue.
He informed the members that he has already held a review meeting with the Chief Secretary and other officials with regard to re-alignment of Metro Rail route, especially on three stretches of roads of Greenland to Jubilee Hills Check Post, Sultan Bazar and backside of Assembly. Since the present route would displace over 1500 residential properties, it was advised to re-align the route.
Reacting to BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman's allegation that the Chief Minister invited only MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi for the review meeting, KCR clarified that Akbar Owaisi was not invited, but by sheer coincidence he visited his office while the review meeting was going on. Therefore, he was asked to participate in the meeting.
Following KCR's assurance of convening an all-party meeting at the earliest, the BJP members ended their protest.
