KCR plans elevated corridors for Hyderabad Hyderabad, Dec 19 (INN): Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday directed the officials to prepare a plan for construction of elevated corridors, skyways and multi-level grade separators to resolve the problem of traffic chaos in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Holding a review meeting on the traffic problems in the city with the senior official at the State Secretariat here, the Chief Minister said that irrespective of old or new city, all junctions in Hyderabad should be freed from congestions.
He said skyways should be constructed on highly congested roads while major junctions should have multi-level grade separators. There should be elevated corridors for the traffic entering into the city from different districts, the Chief Minister said.
The officials have presented a list of junctions facing severe traffic congestions.
The Chief Minister proposed that 11 skyways should be constructed on major roads including Hari Hara Kala Bhavan - Uppal; Masab Tank - Hari Hara Kala Bhavan; Nagarjuna Circle - Madhapur; Tarnaka - ECIL crossroads and Charminar - BHEL roads.
Similarly, it has been decided to constructed multi-level grade separators on about 35-40 junctions which include LB Nagar, Uppal, Banjara Hills Park, Khairtabad, Secretariat, Ambedkar Centre, Necklace Road crossroad, Sangeet Theatre, Paradise, Koti, Boy's Hostel, Tirumulgherry Junction, RTC Crossroads, Abids and Chaderghat.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to prepare the designs for the proposed skyways, elevated corridors and multi-level grade separators in coordination with the experts and consultants.
Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma, GHMC Special Officer Somesh Kumar, CMO Principal Secretary Narsingh Rao, Advisor to Government B.V.Papa Rao and other senior officials attended the review meeting.
