Vemulawada temple earns Rs 18 lakh on a single day KARIMNAGAR: Ahead of 'Maha Sivaratri Jatara' from February 15 to 17, Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple at Vemulawada registered record-level revenue for 'Arjita Seva' and other special rituals held on Monday. According to temple sources, around `18 lakh revenue was earned by the temple in a single day.
Around 60,000 devotees visited the temple and due to the heavy rush, it took nearly 5 to 6 hours for them to have a glimpse of the statue of Lord Siva.
The 'Kodemokkulu' (oxen tying ritual) on the temple premises was the highlight of the event. Around 70 per cent of the income came from the sale of Kodemokkulu tickets. Mild panic ensued when an ox was made to run around the temple premises as a part of the ritual. A stampede ensued where a devotee was hurt who was taken to the hospital immediately.
Traffic snarls appeared all over the town as the narrow roads found it tough to accommodate the pilgrims.
