Drive to remove illegal structures in Capital area TULLUR (GUNTUR): A special drive for the removal of illegal layouts in the capital area commenced, following inspection by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P Narayana along with a team of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) officials of the areas where illegal layouts have come up.
After the government decided to have the new capital of Andhra Pradesh a few months ago even before the formation of CRDA, permissions for the layouts in the region were stopped.
However, several illegal layouts have sprung up and many people were taken for a ride by realtors. With illegal layouts poised to become a headache for the State government in coming days, CRDA got into action and under the direction of Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana, also vice-president of CRDA, started removing the illegal layouts. In all 87 such illegal layouts were identified in the proposed core capital area.
Using earth moving equipment, pillars marking the layout boundaries, some huts on those layouts were cleared. The minister directed the police officials to initiate legal action against the owners of the illegal layouts.
He himself supervised the removal of structures on illegal layouts at Vykuntapuram, Pedamadduru, Amaravathi, Dharanikota, Muttaipalem, 14th mile, Nidumukkala and Mothadaka villages.
Details of illegal layouts and those of approved layouts will be posted on an official website shortly. A special cell pertaining to layouts in the capital area has been set up in CRDA office at Tullur and CRDA additional commissioner G Chandrudu has been entrusted with the task of clearing the layouts.
However, minister had evaded a direct reply, when asked what will happen to those who have bought the plots not suspecting that they were illegal. Interacting with media persons, he said that as on date, a total 9,400 acres of land has been acquired under the land pooling scheme.
He said all the existing villages in the proposed core capital area will be integrated into the master plan in such a manner that there is no loss to them.
