Harish Rao condemns Cong criticism over FAST Hyderabad, Feb 1 (INN): Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has strongly condemned the criticism of Congress leaders over the State Government's decision to scrap FAST (Financial Assistance for Students of Telangana) and continue with old fee reimbursement scheme.
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Harish Rao said that the Congress leaders have no moral right to speak on the issue. He said that the present Telangana Government was forced to shelve FAST scheme due to the mistakes committed by the previous Congress regime.
He said that the Congress leaders remained silent when their own government did not clear the fee reimbursement dues for three years. He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's decision to clear the old dues proves his commitment towards the students of Telangana. He said that the State Government decided to continue with the old system to ensure that the students do not suffer.
Harish Rao advised the Congress leaders to do introspection before criticising the TRS Government, which launched several welfare schemes during its seven-month rule.
