AP Govt to restructure Pollution Control Board Hyderabad, March 2 (INN): A scientific study is essential for restructuring and strengthening of the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board, said Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao.
A detailed review meeting was held in the chambers of the Chief Secretary at Secretariat on Monday with the officials of the Pollution Control Board (PCB). PCB Member Secretary B.S.S. Prasad has given a power point presentation on the activities of the PCB. Organizational Chart of Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board is headed by the Chairman with three Zonal Offices and nine Regional Offices.
The Chief Secretary has issued instructions to the concerned, to insist on Municipal Waste Treatment to have landfill system in all the Municipalities and treatment of Municipal Water waste. The PCB was requested to concentrate on both these issues to ensure that the Municipalities comply with statutory provisions.
Similarly, it was decided to abolish the Task Forces of the PCB. As the Task Forces are not really serving the purpose and it was decided to abolish the Task Forces by replacing them with Inspections from Zonal Offices and Head Office, on a rotation basis.
The Water Cess Act, Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, Environment (Protection) Act, Public Liability Insurance Act, Hazardous Wastes (Management, Handling & Trans boundary Movement) Rules, Bio-Medical Wastes (Management & Handling) Rules, Plastic Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, Municipal Solid Wastes (Management & Handling) Rules, e-Waste Management and other related Acts and Rules implemented by PCB was reviewed in the meeting.
