Drivers, cab operators storm Ola Cabs office Hyderabad: Nearly 200 drivers and cab operators on Tuesday stormed into the office of Ola Cabs at Kondapur and sought written assurance from Ola Cabs over continuance of incentives for drivers.
According to Telangana State Cab and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) president Syed Nizamuddin, about 200 drivers and cab operators went to the office of Ola Cabs and asked the management to give an assurance in writing that it would continue to give huge incentives to the drivers at least for the next two years. They told Ola Cabs management that, lured by the huge incentives being offered now, many drivers have purchased new vehicles and have also quit their regular jobs. The drivers will be in huge financial mess if the Ola Cabs withdraw or modifies the present package of incentives.
The drivers complained that the Ola Cabs have first lured them to join their services by offering daily incentive of Rs 3,000 for 10 bookings. However, after enrolling hundreds of drivers, it simply reduced the incentive to Rs 750 daily. Huge offers were given initially only to pull out the drivers from regular cab operators. This move has not benefitted anyone. While drivers lost their regular jobs, the cab operators were affected due to disruption of their fleet operations, they alleged.
The Ola Cabs authorities in Hyderabad have reportedly sought time till next Monday to come out with an answer after consulting their head office.
The TSCBOA has appealed to the drivers not to get lured by huge incentives being offered by some "Aggregators" or other fly-by night companies who might vanish after taking away their regular jobs.
