No decline in RTC's occupancy: Mahender Reddy Hyderabad, March 25 (INN): Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy on Wednesday claimed that there was no decline in the occupancy rate of RTC buses due to plying of buses run by private operators and lack of coordination between concerned departments in the State.
Replying to a question raised by MLA N Bhaskar Rao and others during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly, the minister disclosed that the occupancy rate in Hyderabad was 70.13%, Mahbubnagar - 70.83%; Nalgonda - 69.55%; Medak - 69.65%; Ranga Reddy - 74.63%; Karimnagar - 69.34%; Nizamabad - 70.99; Adilabad - 71.19%; Khammam - 68.38% and the occupancy rate in Warangal is 70.03 per cent.
To strengthen the RTC, weekly joint meetings are conducted by Transport and RTC on every Tuesday with effect from October 28, 2014, to review the Special Drive activity of the previous week carried out by the AMVIs attached to RTC for enforcement to curb illegal operations by private operators.
