Treat farmer as unit: Legislative Council Hyderabad, March 27 (INN): The Telangana State Legislative Council on Friday passed a unanimously resolution to urge the Central Government to treat farmer as unit, instead of village/mandal/district as unit under the Agriculture Crop Insurance Schemes.
The council also passed a unanimous resolution against the removal of 25% rice mill levy. "Telangana has been a paddy producing state and surplus paddy is being utilised for the needs of other States and as the decision of the Government of India to remove 25% rice mill levy would cause hardship to the farmers in the State in disposing of paddy," said the resolution. The Centre has been requested to continue the existing mill levy percentage of 25 in future also for safeguarding the interests of the farmers of Telangana.
