MAA Elections: And the final winner is.... The much awaited Movie Artistes Association (MAA) election results were out and Rajendra Prasad won the battle. As per reports counting was concluded and Rajendra Prasad won the elections by 83 votes against Jayasudha. The counting of the elections began this morning in Film Chamber premises. Rajendra Prasad is in clear majority in all the seven rounds and finally won the election with 83 votes majority.
In first round Rajendhra Prasad led by 46 votes over his rival Jaya Sudha. In second round of counting, Rajendhra Prasad bagged 50 votes while Jaya Sudha have to settle for only 24 votes. By fourth round, this veteran comedian managed to have a lead of 46 votes.By end of seventh round Rajendra Prasad bagged 83 votes more than Jayasudha and emerged as new MAA president.
The election, which was held on March 29, was closely contested by veteran actor Rajendra Prasad and Jayasudha amid high octane drama, with panel members of both candidates flinging allegations at each other. The elections which has just 702 votes caught the attention of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
It may be recalled that MAA election were held in the last week of March, but the court ordered not to announce results till the Court announces its verdict.O.Kalyan approached court citing discrepancies in the MAA polls.He also demanded that MAA ex-president Muralimohan present the accounts of the expenditure incurred. The Civil Court has struck off the case filed by O Kalyan and it has inturn slapped a fine on O Kalyan for misguiding the court and foisting false case.
