Mahesh mom wins Rs. 10 lakhs in 18-year old case Actress Sukanya who known for her roles in films like Peddarikam and Amma Koduku gets compensation of ten lakhs in a 18 years old case. A Fast Track Court in Chennai directed Sun TV to pay Rs 10,00,500 to actress Sukanya for alleged derogatory remarks against her.
In the interview telecast on April 7, 1996 by Sun TV, slain forest brigand Veerappan had made derogatory remarks against Sukanya. The interview had been filmed by the reporter of a Tamil bi-weekly 'Nakkeeran'. The footage goes to hands of Sun TV as part of an agreement between the magazine and the channel and they aired in the channel.
In the interview, Veerappan had made derogatory remarks against Sukanya. Veerappan made several controversial claims and scandalous allegations in the interview about the actress. Sukanya moved to high court at that time and she had claimed that the 7-episode show had defamed her good reputation in society and filed cases of defamation in 1996 against Sun TV, Nakkeeran and Veerappan.
The actress had sought a compensation of Rs.10,00,500 in her petition filed with the High Court of Madras. After 18 long years, the case was transferred to a FTC and came up for hearing a few days back in the Court of Justice Chandrasekaran. However, the case came to an end today when judge P Chandrasekaran directed Sun TV to pay Rs 10,00,500 to Sukanya. Sukanya is set to act in a Mahesh Babu film in which Shruti Haasan is the female lead.
