AP orders sterilisation of stray dogs Hyderabad, April 18 (INN): At a meeting today with the Officers of Animal Husbandry, Panchayat Raj, Municipal Administration and Home Departments, Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao has discussed on the incident and instant death of a girl due to stray dogs attack in the Guntur District and other stray dog menace occurred.
Concerned departments have been asked to ensure closing of unlicensed meat shops and to relocate them in specified areas, where it would be easier to monitor them so that the Panchyat and Municipal authorities would be in a position to monitor stray dog menace specific to that area.
To embark large scale sterilization programme of these stray dogs, concerned departments have been requested to deploy the necessary personnel for the same. This may be examined by the Panchayat Raj and Municipal Departments in coordination with the respective District Collectors.
'Wherever ferocious stray dogs are noticed, they should be immediately transported to any animal welfare shelter for being looked after by them. People should also cooperate with the civic body by not throwing food leftover in open places as doing so would also invite trouble, the Chief Secretary said.
Spl. Chief Secretary Lingaraju Panigrahi, Prl. Secretary MA&UD A Giridhar and other officers attended the meeting.
