Involve people from grassroots: AP CM Hyderabad, April 18 (INN): Directing officials to involve people from the grassroots in the state growth, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked them to draft an action plan that will materialize his vision to boost growth rate to 14 percent.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting on identifying growth engines in the state.
Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao informed the Chief Minister that they have completed the first base of action plan in a detailed meeting with the respective departments. He added that they have reviewed how the growth rate will rise from sectors that are identified as income generators.
The Chief Minister was also informed that various departments were asked to come up an action plan, drilling down the activities to mandal and village level.
Special Chief Secretary S.P. Tucker pointed that in districts extensively dependent on the primary sector (agriculture and allied activities), the growth rate will remain stagnant unless there is a structural change.
Stressing on Prime Minister's mission to provide affordable housing to every individual, Tucker mentioned that they will implement on lines of Singapore's vibrant housing model through Housing and Development Board (HDB). He also pointed that with a requirement of over 1.2 million houses in the state, housing sector could be the largest growth engine and stressed on coming up with a construction strategy.
The officials also added that efforts must be taken to put a check on rural youth migrating to urban areas by adequate creating employment opportunities.
'Every department must evaluate their performance on a monthly basis. We will further analyse their results quarterly and identify hurdles and work towards improvement,' Chief Minister added.
Principal Secretary to CM Satish Chandra, Principal Secretary (MA&UD) Giridhar and Secretaries of planning and finance were also present.
