Muslim leaders threaten mass agitation

Several prominent Muslim organisations have threatened to launch mass agitation if the Telangana Government fails to order a CBI probe into the Alair encounter in which five under trials were killed on April 7.

The decision to intensify protest was taken during an All Party Consultative meeting held at Madina Education Centre in Nampally here on Saturday. Representatives from various prominent Muslim organisations, besides intellectuals and eminent scholars, participated in the deliberations.

The meeting expressed its anguish over the incident and the state of the affairs and said that the inquiry ordered by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), would not serve any purpose, as the State Government in the GO issued to this effect had already declared the victims as Terrorists. This attitude of the State Government and the Police Department is biased and it cannot be expected that the SIT will deliver any justice, the Muslim leaders said.

The meeting unanimously demanded that the State Government order a probe or by a sitting High Court Judge. Unless the fair inquiry is conducted by the CBI or the sitting High Court Judge is ordered facts behind this incident will not come to light. The meeting expressed apprehensions that the police officers will try to shield the erring policemen and try to justify the incident.

The meeting also demanded that all the 17 policemen who were on escort duty and their supervisory officials should be suspended till the inquiry is completed. Because they will make attempts to influence the investigation.

The meeting demanded that necessary and suitable security measures be adopted for the safety and security of such under trials so that this type of incident does not recur in future.

The meeting also expressed over the arrest of innocent persons in connection with the protests on such incidents and said that whenever any incident takes place innumerable persons are taken into custody. They are harassed and then released. The meeting demanded that if any arrest is necessary the police should use the evidence already available with them in the form of photos and videos of the protests etc., and basing on this evidence they should identify the suspects and take them into custody. If innocent persons are taken into custody it will mar their career.

The meeting expressed the confidence that the State Government would take necessary steps to meet the demands of justice. The participants also decided to organize protest meetings in the district as well.

Moulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed, former MLC and President Jamait Ulama Telangana & AP presided over the meeting. Prominent among those who addressed are Telangana JAC Convernor Prof. M Kodanda Ram, Moulana Abdur Raheem Quraishi (Tameer -e- Millat); Moulana Jaffer Pasha (Imarat Millat -e- Islamia); Moulana Mufti Abdul Moghni Mazahari ( City Jamiat Ulama); Moulana Qazi Samiullah (Majlis -e- Ilmia); Janab Azheruddin (Jamaat -e- Islami); Moulana Arshad Ali Qasmi ( Majlis Tahaffuz Khatme Nabuwwat); Janab Mustaq Malik ( Tehreek Muslim Shabban); Moulana Fasihuddin Nadvi (Safa Bait ul Maal); Moulana Abdul Gaffar (Lajnattul Ulema); Moulana Taqi Raza Abidi (Tanzeem -e- Jafferia); Moulana M. Abrar(Wafaqul Madaris); Moulana Yahya Pasha ( Quadriya International); Moulana Syed Quadri (Sunni United Forum of India) ;Moulana Mujahid Hashmi (Awami Majlis 'e- Amal) and Janab Hamid Mohammed Khan (Movement for Peace and Justice) participated in the deliberations.

Hafiz Peer Khaleeq Ahmed Saber, General Secretary Jamait Ulama, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the need for convening the meeting.
