SCR to lay focus on provision of amenities South Central Railway General Manager PK Srivastava held a high level meeting with the Principal Heads of the Departments and Divisional Railway Managers from all Divisions of SCR and critically reviewed the status of the ongoing passenger amenity works at various railway stations.
While addressing the meeting, held at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Thursday, Srivastava said that Railway Board wanted all the Zonal Railways to focus on provision of various Passenger Amenities at Railway stations as announced in the Railway Budget 2015. It is imperative to translate the policy pronouncements made in the Railway Budget into tangible improvement on the ground, he stressed.
Srivastava, further, said that SCR has got a substantial budget outlay of Rs. 133.47 Cr. for the year 2015-16 and instructed the officials to quickly plan and execute passenger amenity works at Railway Stations over the Zone to spent the budget outlay completely.
The passenger amenity works, which Srivastava listed out for expeditious completion, include provision of adequate number of dustbins and toilets of standard design at all stations to ensure cleanliness: making good the shortfall of minimum essential amenities, if any, as per norms at all stations and completion of upgradation works at all Adarsh Stations sanctioned up to 2013-14.
He also said that provision of escalators and lifts at identified stations; completion of sanctioned works for washable aprons at identified stations where morning trains stop for longer duration; extension and raising of platforms, provision of shelters over platforms, adequate drinking water and Foot-over-Bridges at Stations should be accelerated.
