District Collectors praises GHMC's concept The District Collectors, Joint Collectors, Mayors and Zilla Parishad Chairmen of Telangana have praised and appreciated the efforts made by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for coming up with a modernized graveyard 'Mahaprasthanam'.
They visited the modernized crematorium located no Road No 45 of Jubilee Hills and were surprised to find a pollution-free crematorium which was surrounded with greenery and equipped with systems of automatic chanting of Bhagwat Geetha Hymns, a cafeteria, Wifi, shower bathrooms, lockers and other latest equipment.
GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar briefed the District Collectors that in the history of India, GHMC is the first municipal body which constructed a modernized graveyard on an area of 3.7 acres at a cost of Rs 3 crores. He also stated that major graveyards in the GHMC limits would be modernized on the same lines in near future.
Later, the District Collectors visited 120-year-old Monda Market and interacted with the vendors on the facilities being provided to them and the manner in which they are selling their goods in a hygienic manner.
