'Oggu' artists held for protest at the Secretariat Hyderabad, April 20 (INN): Nearly 300 'Oggu' artists were taken into custody by the Hyderabad City Police when they staged protest at the main gate of Telangana Secretariat here on Monday.
The artists, hailing from different parts of Telangana, came in rally from Ravindra Bharati to the Secretariat and raised slogans against the State Government. Speaking to media persons, noted artist Chukka Sathaiah alleged that they were being discriminated by the State Government. He demanded that all Oggu artists be given jobs and health insurance facility on par with other artists who have been enjoying the patronage of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
They also accused Sanskrithika Sarathi Chairman and TRS MLA Rasamayi Balakishan of favouring artists belonging to Scheduled Castes only.
