Venkaiah inaugurates Toilet Complex in Chavatapalam Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday inaugurated a new toilet complex at Chavatapalam village of Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh.
Three toilet units one each for girls, boys and physically challenged were constructed under Swachh Bharat Mission in a short duration of 11 days using sandwich panels.
Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said that the Swachh Bharat Mission which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd October has become a national movement. The launch received huge public response and enthusiasm across the country cutting across social and economic differences. The Minister urged the people not to litter or allow others to litter and try to keep clean himself, his family, his locality, his village and his workplace.
Naidu also stressed on the need for change of mindset about cleanliness. What is really needed is the 'purging our minds' of the apathy and lack of concern for others and for the environment, he said. Sanitation is all about recognizing the rights of fellow citizens in a healthy environment, the Minister added.
The Union Minister complimented Hindustan Prefab Limited which has built the toilets under its Corporate Social Responsibility. HPL, a Central Public Sector Undertaking of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, is currently undertaking construction of over 14,500 school toilet complexes for major PSUs under their CSR programme. The complexes are in different stages of implementation.
