Cong MLC asks KCR to review Metro works Hyderabad, May 4 (INN): Congress MLC MS Prabhakar on Monday demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao hold a review meeting on the status of Metro Rail works in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Prabhakar claimed that the Chief Minister did not held any review meeting since December 9, 2014, when the issue was discussed in the all-party meeting. He said that Metro Rail works on more than one corridor were pending due to lack of approval by the Chief Minister. "The Chief Minister is yet to respond to two different proposals sent by the L&T on change of alignment near Assembly building. Although Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma is holding weekly review on the progress of works, he is restraining to take any decision on re-alignment near Assembly building. Similarly, the government did not clear its stand on the Metro Rail route in the Old City," he said.
Quoting sources, Prabhakar claimed that the L&T had sought Chief Minister's stand on setting up a Metro station at Public Gardens. However, the Chief Minister is deliberately avoiding the HMR officials to delay the works, he alleged. Further, he accused the TRS Government of spreading misinformation on the completion of works on some corridors only to gain some mileage in view of GHMC elections. For instance, he said the Begumpet-Mettuguda corridor is not likely to be completed before GHMC polls as Metro Rails could be taken up on this corridor only on completion of three ROBs. However, some officials, at the instance of State Government, is giving false assurance that this corridor will be ready by October this year, he said.
