5 years jail; Super star in tears Bolywood super star Salman Khan was found guilty on Wednesday in the 2002 hit-and-run case by a Mumbai Sessions Court. Sallu Bhai has been found guilty in the 2002 hit-and-run case and he was sentenced to five years in jail.
The judge held Salman guilty of rash and negligent driving when he was at the wheels of the Land Cruiser that killed the poor victim in suburban Bandra in September 2002.Delivering the verdict, Additional Sessions Judge D.W. Deshpande said: "You were driving the car," adding Salman was under the influence of alcohol and behind the wheels without a licence. He said all charges stood proven.
On September 28, 2002, Salman's vehicle Toyoto Land Cruiser rammed into a road side bakery in Bandra claiming life of a person. Khan's rash driving claimed the life of Nurullah Mehboob Sharif and injured Kalim Mohammed Pathan, Munna Malai Khan, Abdullah Rauf Shaikh and Muslim Shaikh.
Reports say that thought Salman Khan broke down in court soon after the verdict came.Salman is likely to be taken into police custody and sent to the Arthur Road Central Jail in south Mumbai. Salman will have to spend the night in jail, before he can move a bail application in the Bombay High Court tomorrow. Khan has also been fined Rs 500 for driving without a licence.
