Hyderabad Police arrest ATM offender Hyderabad, May 21 (INN): Within 24 hours of commencement of offence, the Hyderabad City Police arrested the man who robbed a woman at an ATM centre in SR Nagar on gun-point.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, City Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy informed that the accused, Pedapally Shiva Kumar Reddy, a native of Kadapa, has been arrested on the charges of robbery. On Wednesday morning, he threatened a lady Chintha Sri Lalitha, a software engineer, and fired one bullet in ATM center while the victim was drawing the amount. He robbed her gold ornament and also drawn an amount of Rs. 2500/-.
Shiva Kumar is aged 21 years and was residing at Sai Durga Hostel at Ameerpet. Police seized one country made pistol, six live rounds, three ATM Cards including the victims card, one Gold Chain, one Finger Ring, five mobile phones including the victims mobile, button knife and net cash of Rs. 4000/-
The Commissioner said that the accused is native of Vallur village in YSR Kadapa district. The accused studied upto 10th class and came to Hyderabad about three years back for seeking livelihood. He got habituated for lavish life in order to meet the expenditure, he hatched a plan of robbing innocent people. For this he procured on 9MM country made pistol allegedly from Maharastra State and was waiting for a chance. As per his plan he made a recce near ATM center wherein the accused is waiting for a chance for innocent ladies or old aged persons who visit ATM center for withdrawing cash.
On May 20, while the victim on the way to her office, she went to SBI ATM situated beside Value Mart, Yousufguda to withdraw money, while she was trying to withdraw money the accused who covered his face with kerchief came to her by holding a fire arm and demanded her to give him money by withdrawing money from ATM, by saying so the accused fired his fire arm to the sides, and threatened her and snatched her gold chain, ear tops, finger ring, cell phone and ATM card from her and also collected her PIN number of ATM card and fled away.
Today, the Commissioner's Task Force Central, West and North Zone teams in a joint operation apprehended the accused who was moving under suspicious circumstances at Sai Durga Hostel, Ameerpet.
The arrested accused along with seized property was handover to S.R.Nagar Police Station for further investigation.
